Higher Logic Debuts AI Assistant for Associations

In the States, community engagement platform Higher Logic has launched an AI Assistant focused on helping professional / membership associations organise and access their stores of knowledge.

Rob WengerThe tool taps into three connected layers: Member intelligence, giving staff a more complete view of each member; a Knowledge layer, which allows associations to configure, name and brand their assistant while organizing and governing the content used to deliver source-linked answers based on their official information, which can either be uploaded to the tool or synced with it; and a Support layer, which resolves common member questions using official responses set by the association or answers drawn from the knowledge layer. Answers are delivered in natural language, and when a suitable one can't be found, enquirers are directed to human support.

'Not all of an association's knowledge is the same, and its AI shouldn't treat it that way,' comments CEO Rob Wenger (pictured). 'Domain expertise, institutional knowledge and internal operations all serve different audiences, from members to volunteer leaders to staff. Connecting AI to everything an organization knows isn't enough. It needs the structure and permissions to know what to use, when to use it, and who's allowed to see it. That's built into the design of AI Assistant.'

Higher Logic says the tool will continue to add new features, including the ability to take actions rather than just surfacing information.

Elizabeth Engel, Higher Logic's Membership Product Advisor, who has worked supporting associations for nearly 30 years, comments: 'Associations offer members an enormous amount of value, and we believe it should be easy for them to tap into it. Members shouldn't have to guess whether their answer is sitting on the website, in the community, or in a learning platform. They just want to ask the question. That's what AI Assistant gives them, an experience built around what they need, not where associations happen to store it.'
