TNS Buy Strengthens News Monitoring Lead in France

TNS Media Intelligence has acquired French agency Presse+, adding to its already substantial presence in the country's media intelligence market. TNS will take over all Presse+'s editorial monitoring activities including press review and newspaper cuttings services, TV, radio, cinema and Internet monitoring.

The buyer has been a major player in reactive news monitoring in France for 25 years and over the last decade in particular has developed a range of services including press reviews and in-depth media coverage analysis. Domestic and international clients include Accenture, Aventis, Michelin, Peugeot, Publicis and Total, a selection of PR agencies, and public institutions including the French Ministry of Labour.

The deal combines the skills of the two companies in a group with 400 employees, creating what Jean-Michel Portail, Director General of TNS Media Intelligence Europe, calls 'a unique offering in the news monitoring sector in France... This deal follows the acquisitions of BMC in the United Kingdom and D+A in Spain and positions TNS Media Intelligence as one of the market leaders in Europe'.
