Somerfield and Nestlé Directors Join Retail Forum

Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) UK, an initiative aimed at increasing collaboration between retailers and suppliers, has appointed two new co-chairs: Somerfield Supply Chain Director Martin Oakes and Nestlé Supply Chain Director Chris Tyas. ECR is led by the directors of leading retailers and manufacturers, and managed by retail think tank IGD.

Oakes and Tyas have been longstanding members of the ECR UK Executive Board, as well as co-chairs for the On-Shelf Availability workgroup, which worked to establish the industry's largest availability survey. They take over from Mark Aylwin, former Safeway Supply Director, and Chris Poole, Procter & Gamble's UK & Ireland Logistics Director.

Joanne Denney-Finch, IGD Chief Executive, said, 'I would like to thank Mark and Chris for their unswerving commitment towards ECR UK; it has undoubtedly helped businesses to foster closer working relationships to the benefit of the shopper. Martin and Chris are a firmly established partnership within ECR and I am confident of their success in the future.'

The new appointees will continue to support existing programmes as well as identifying new opportunities, developing learning programmes, and increasing membership. Tyas explained: 'We have some of the most powerful supply chain leaders represented on the ECR UK Board. This represents a unique opportunity to make a real difference to our industry.'

Diane Carter, Sainsbury's Supply Chain Operations Director, and Justin Cook, Kraft Foods Supply Chain Director UK & Ireland, have taken over the roles of Co-Chairs of the On-Shelf Availability workgroup.
