US Leadership Changes for CARMA
US media analyst firm CARMA International has appointed Michael Carberry as President to manage its Washington, DC headquarters and liaise with CARMA's offices around the world. He will replace Albert Barr, who will become Chairman of the firm. Elizabeth Smith, currently COO, will become Senior Consultant.
Carberry was formerly Senior VP of Direct Impact, a communications subsidiary of Burson Marsteller. This followed a four-year stint as Chairman of advertising and PR agency Earle Palmer Brown. Prior to that, he was Partner and Executive VP at ad agency Henry J. Kaufman & Associates, and later became CEO after the company was acquired by Shandwick. He began his career handling ad campaigns for products including Alka Seltzer Plus and Lipton Instant Tea.
Now an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Georgetown University, Carberry is also a retired Colonel in the US Marine Corps Reserve.
