The NPD Group has appointed five new members of staff to its US-based wireless research practice. Among them are Ed Manzitti, Director of Primary Research, Neil Strother, Research Director for Mobile Devices, and Charul Vyas, Senior Account Manager.
Manzitti will be responsible for research to support information products across three industry segments: mobile devices, mobile content, and wireless services. He has more than 20 years' experience of research in hi-tech and telecoms industries, focusing on customer value, loyalty, market-share tracking, retention analysis, and concept testing. Before NPD, he worked at EMSi/The Janus Group, Harte-Hanks Market Intelligence, Telcordia Technologies, and AT&T.
Strother will provide clients with strategic advice and insights on the market for wireless mobile devices such as handsets and smartphones. Prior to NPD, he was Principal Analyst for Mobile Devices at In-Stat. Before that, he worked as a Senior Analyst in the eBusiness Computing Infrastructure group, where he covered PDAs, servers, and storage products. Strother has also been Managing Editor of the ZDNet AnchorDesk technology web site.
Vyas has been an industry analyst for the last five years, most recently working as Research Manager for iGillott Research, a mobile communications consulting firm. Prior to that, she studied wireless subscriber and market trends in the US and Japan as a Senior Research Analyst at IDC.
Eileen Brown, Director of Business Development, and Ellie Burgess, Director of Program Management, are moving to the wireless group from other NPD divisions. Brown, who will oversee sales and business development, joined NPD in early 2003 as Executive Director for sales and business development in the company's Retail Business Group. Burgess has been with NPD since 1997, most recently as the Director of product marketing for NPD Techworld.
Clint Wheelock, VP of Wireless Research, said of the appointments: 'We have recruited some of the brightest minds in the industry to provide in-depth information and analysis as well as a breadth of consumer data.'
