TNS Wins Singapore TV Contract
TNS has added to its recent successes in SE Asia with a five-year TV audience measurement contract from MediaCorp, Singapore's largest broadcaster. The agency recently won a similar contract in Hong Kong, and announced the 'Power of Print' study to analyse print media ad campaigns in the same two states.
The Singapore service, which begins next January, will use a representative panel of 750 households. Automated People Meters will retrieve viewing information overnight, making audience figures available the next morning. The data will be accessible via the TNS InfoSysTV system, which enables clients to run detailed analyses of viewing figures.
As well as TV audience measurement in Asia, TNS has pioneered the commercialisation of the Portable People Meter (PPM) in Belgium through an agreement with Arbitron. It has also been commissioned by UK digital TV broadcaster BskyB to develop the world's first digital set top box panel, due to go live this autumn.
Mike Gorton, Head of TV & Radio Audience Measurement at TNS, sees the new contract win as 'testament to the strength and ability of the company to manage major TV audience measurement projects'. The company is online at www.tns-global.com .
