ACNielsen Launches Global CPG Launch Tracker
ACNielsen has introduced a new service to allow consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturers to benchmark the progress of multi-country product launches, and to help them predict the likelihood of success. The service covers more than 90 countries worldwide.
The tool, Global Launch Tracker, combines point-of-sale and consumer panel data to assess the success of product launches in specific categories. It compares the results against other launches from the previous two years, and provides benchmarks for sales and repeat purchases.
Users of the tracker can analyse the risks of introducing a product in their choice of countries, and can identify countries that present particularly high or low risks. The service also allows clients to track the results of competitors' product launches.
ACNielsen's MD of Global Services Jane Perrin points out that, while new product launches are critical to CPG manufacturers' success, they are inherently risky, particularly multiple-country launches. She says Global Launch Tracker will help to reduce this risk by 'pulling multi-country information together in an easy-to-use application'.
