Ipsos Moves into Bangkok with Ex-RI Directors
Ipsos has extended its network in Asia with the launch of Ipsos Thailand in Bangkok - a joint venture between Ipsos and three former staff of Research International Thailand. Over the last year, Ipsos has acquired companies in China and Japan, and launched offices in Hong Kong and the Philippines.
Ipsos owns the majority of shares in the new Ipsos Thailand, while the rest of the shares are owned by the three 'research partners': Jérôme Hervio, previously MD of Research International Thailand, and Dao Napasab and Prangnoot Suryiaporn, previously Research Director and CFO of the company.
Ipsos now has fifteen office locations in Asia Pacific: Japan (Tokyo and Osaka), Korea, China (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu), Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Australia (Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne). Richard Mecchi, CEO of Ipsos in Asia Pacific, says the new Bangkok office is 'extremely important in realising our strategy of being present in the major commercial centres of the region'. He welcomed the former RI employees and their 'strong experience and knowledge of the region'.
In March, Ipsos bought China's GDMR research agency (www.mrweb.com/drno/news3415.htm ) and last September it acquired Japan Statistics and Research Co Ltd (www.mrweb.com/drno/news3919.htm ). Ipsos is online at www.ipsos.com.
