MrWeb Launches Asia Site
MrWeb has launched a new section dedicated to market research in Asia. Content includes a round-up of recent Asian news, quick links to Asian job ads, features by MR specialists, and statistics about the industry - both for Asia as a whole and for the major economies in the region.
The site already has separate sections for the US and Australia, with the main home page (www.mrweb.com) focused on the UK industry but with international links. A separate UK page and a section focusing on Europe (other than the UK) will follow next year.
The Asian section is the first to cover more than one country, and the first covering an area with main languages other than English, although content will appear only in English for the forseeable future. Its launch reflects the rapid growth of Asia in both MR and general economic terms, plus the growing number of Asian visitors to MrWeb. The site's Asian readership is currently focused in international agencies, but clients and smaller suppliers are beginning to sign up, too.
MrWeb MD Nick Thomas says the introduction of Asian coverage before mainland European is a response to demand and to the exciting growth of the Asian market. 'To an extent, we're following our noses - we seemed to pick up a lot of good, responsive users in Asia without particularly targeting them, and Asia has loomed ever larger in industry news and in speeches by leading figures. We have always had a lot of CVs and general feedback from experienced researchers in South Asia, and recently that's been supplemented by contacts from SE Asia and Greater China.'
The site, which celebrates its seventh anniversary tomorrow, aims to provide a community feel for Asian researchers, just as it has for those in the UK and elsewhere. Thomas hopes that MR professionals from all over the region will provide regular feedback, suggest additions and make contributions to the new section.
