New President for ACNielsen USA
VNU has appointed John Lewis, CEO of Knowledge Networks, as President and CEO of ACNielsen USA. Lewis, who previously worked in marketing for ACNielsen, will report to Steven Schmidt, recently named President and CEO of VNU Marketing Information, on top of his existing role as global head of ACNielsen.
Over the last four years, Lewis led Knowledge Networks from start-up to profitability. Before that, he was president and CEO of SMS Technologies, a Chicago-based packaging company serving the FMCG industry.
Between 1994 and 1999, he was Executive VP, Marketing for ACNielsen US, devising a new-product strategy for the company. He began his career with NutraSweet, where he held a variety of sales, marketing and general management positions.
Lewis succeeds Tim Callahan, who left the company in October. In his new role, Lewis will be responsible for ACNielsen's business in the US - the largest single market served by company, which operates in more than 110 countries. He will work closely with Pat Gardiner, President of ACNielsen Canada, who also reports to Schmidt.
Schmidt welcomed Lewis back to the company, stating: 'In his first tenure, John reinvigorated our marketing and new-product development, launching services that today account for over 15% of our revenues in the US.'
