New VP to Expand Scarborough's Custom Research

US newspaper ratings firm Scarborough Research has appointed Edwin Batson, former Director of Marketing Research for the Los Angeles Times, to the new position of Vice President in charge of leading and extending the company's newspaper custom research services.

Batson has more than 25 years of experience in consumer and media research. Prior to the Los Angeles Times, he held research positions at companies including Diagnostic Research International, Maritz Research, Grey Advertising and Taco Bell Corporation.

At Scarborough, he will lead the custom division, which provides audience engagement, circulation and editorial studies. He will have responsibility for new business development, and for broadening research offerings to include advertising satisfaction studies, circulation stop surveys, new product development, and strategic branding studies.

Batson will report to Gregg Lindner, Executive VP of Research and Operations, and will work closely with Gary Meo, Senior VP of Print and Internet Services. Speaking of the appointment, Lindner says: 'Ed is recognised as one of the most experienced and knowledgeable newspaper and market researchers in the business.'
