Clear Channel Hires Outdoor Measurement Leader

Clear Channel Outdoor, the world's largest outdoor advertising company, has appointed Tony Jarvis as Executive VP of Global Research. The move is intended to put Clear Channel in the forefront of industry efforts to demonstrate the effectiveness of outdoor advertising.

Jarvis joins Clear Channel from Infinity Broadcasting (now CBS Radio), where he was Research Chief. Previous roles include head of MediaCom's Strategic Insights Group, and Vice President of Media Services at Millward Brown.

According to Paul Meyer, Global President of Clear Channel Outdoor, 'Providing clients the most credible measurement of our medium's effectiveness is extremely important to maximizing outdoor's long-term potential. The addition of a researcher of Tony's stature demonstrates Clear Channel's commitment to taking a leadership role in meeting this challenge.'

Jarvis serves on the board of directors for the Media Ratings Council, the Advertising Research Foundation and the Council for Marketing and Opinion Research. He speaks regularly at worldwide industry conferences, has been a MediaWeek Media Research All Star and is among MediaPost's Media Research 100 People to Know. He is a former Olympian and was born in Bournemouth, England. He graduated from London University and received his MBA from the University of Massachusetts.

Jarvis predicts 'a dynamic new chapter in this industry's continued growth, not only in the U.S., but worldwide' with the adoption of state-of-the art measurement methodologies. 'After years of discussion and debate, it's time now for this industry to deliver more relevant metrics to its clients and their agencies. No other medium matches outdoor's ubiquity and impact on its audience.'

The company, whose public faces include ad space giant Adshel and the spectacular sign displays in New York's Times Square, is online at www.clearchanneloutdoor.com
