Yankee Adds Two to Board
US technology specialist Yankee Group was appointed Mary Modahl and Larry Weber to its Board of Directors. Modahl, formerly a researcher at Forrester, is a much-quoted e-commerce commentator and author, while Weber is known as the founder and leader of some of the world's biggest PR groups.
Modahl, now an independent consultant, is widely quoted in national publications including The Wall Street Journal and the Boston Globe, and in 2000 was named in BusinessWeek's 'Top 25 in eCommerce' list. She is the author of the HarperBusiness book, Now or Never: How Companies Must Change Today to Win the Battle for Internet Consumers.
Weber is Chairman and founder of W2 Group, Inc. Earlier in his career, he founded one of the world's largest technology public relations firms, The Weber Group, and online marketing firm Thunder House - he sold both companies to The Interpublic Group of Companies in 1996. He was Chairman and CEO of Interpublic's Advanced Marketing Services Group in 2000 and in 2001 led the merger of Weber Shandwick Worldwide and BSMG Worldwide, now the world's largest public relations agency.
With the election of Modahl and Weber, the Yankee Group board now consists of five members: the others are its President and CEO Emily Nagle Green, and two partners from Alta Communications, Tim Dibble and B. Lane MacDonald.
Nagle Green says the company is 'thrilled' with the new arrivals: 'They are both powerful thinkers and we're fortunate to have some of their energy and insight to aid our growth plans.' The Group is online at www.yankeegroup.com
