US Energy Researcher Acquired
Berkeley, California-based Quantum Consulting, Inc. is to be acquired by Itron Inc., a supplier of wireless data and communication products for utilities. Quantum offer specialist research in energy efficiency markets, in addition to planning and design consultancy services.
Itron will make an initial cash payment of $4 million, plus additional payments of up to $2 million if Quantum meets performance targets. Itron will add Quantum to its existing consulting and analysis group, which offers services from load profiling and peak demand forecasts to environmental impact assessments. It plans to close the deal on April 1.
Itron Chief Executive LeRoy Nosbaum commented: 'With intense focus on energy efficiency throughout the country and particularly in the state of California, we wanted to expand Itron's capabilities and offerings in this growing segment of the energy marketplace.'
