NetRatings Narrows First Quarter Losses

NetRatings has announced its results for the quarter ending 31 March, showing an 11% rise in revenue to US$18.3m. Net loss for the quarter came in at US$225,000 compared with US$1.6m a year earlier.

According to Chief Executive William Pulver, 'NetRatings has made a strong start in the first quarter and is now well positioned for a successful 2006. Our product portfolio is in terrific shape to benefit from the growth in Internet advertising and commerce, and we are pleased with the progress of our ongoing patent licensing program. In addition, we believe our innovative products and patented technologies - in concert with planned data collection enhancements - will allow us to exploit emerging opportunities created by the rapid transition of traditional media - including radio and television - to the Internet.'

The company has also announced that it has filed patent infringement lawsuits against WhenU.com, Inc. and 180solutions, Inc. as part of the patent enforcement program commenced in early 2005. Under the program, designed to protect the company's investments in its patented technologies related to the collection, analysis and reporting of computer usage and activity, NetRatings has signed licensing agreements with three companies: Visual Sciences, SageMetrics and Omniture and has complaints pending against three additional companies: Coremetrics, Sane Solutions and WebSideStory.

For the second quarter ending June 30, 2006, NetRatings is projecting revenues of between US$18.6m and US$19m, whilst for full year 2006 the company is forecasting revenues of between US$76m and US$79m.
