Deal Creates Global Analyst for Information Industry
US provider Outsell, Inc. has announced the acquisition of London-based Electronic Publishing Services Ltd (EPS). Both companies provide advice and consulting for the information industry itself.
The acquisition will broaden the offering of Burlingame, CA-based Outsell, expand its international reach and double its client base of publishers and information providers. EPS' strength in the UK and Europe will supplement Outsell's in North America. Together, the firms are now serving over 300 organizations on a global basis, and the combined team will include nearly 60 industry analysts and professionals, with no lay-offs planned following the buy. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In terms of industry segments, EPS has particular strength in the Legal Information and Education & Training niches, and with financial providers who invest in information companies, while Outsell is strong in the b2b trade, market & IT research, and search & aggregation segments. Both firms cover the scientific, technical & medical information sector.
'This event brings together two organizations that defined the $358 billion information industry, giving it a stronger voice', according to Anthea Stratigos, Outsell's Co-founder and CEO. She adds: 'We have found the high energy and dynamism of the EPS team a great match and are thrilled to be working with them.' Co-founder and Chief Sales Officer Greg Chagaris says the deal should broaden Outsell's base in the UK, Europe, India, and China, among other areas.
David Worlock, Founder and Chairman of EPS, will serve as Chief Research Fellow of the new organization. He notes his 'immense respect' for Outsell, 'in particular their unique contributions to the study of user behavior in these emerging new marketplaces. Putting the two elements together, along with all of the other analysis and commentary provided by the two firms, creates a full-service value for clients of both firms that has not before been available.'
