VNU Sells Stake in Healthcare Info Firm
The Thomson Corporation announced this week that it is buying 100% ownership of Solucient, an information products company serving the healthcare industry – including the 34.3% stake owned by VNU. Terms were not disclosed.
VNU said that while Solucient provides valuable services and insights to healthcare clients, the business is no longer considered a strategic fit with its MI (Marketing Information) group, with its primary FMCG focus. The company now known as Solucient was formed in 1999 as HCIA-Sachs, when VNU company Sachs Group was merged in a j.v. with private equity firm Veronis, Suhler & Associates (now Veronis Suhler Stevenson).
The transaction with Thomson is expected to be completed later this year and is subject to customary closing conditions. VNU is online at www.vnu.com .
