New Chairman for Radio Ad Bureau
Peter Smyth, President and CEO, Greater Media, Inc., has been elected Chairman of the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) Board of Directors, for a one-year term beginning on January 1, 2007.
President and CEO Jeff Haley made the announcement at a Board meeting in Atlanta.
Smyth has 30 years experience in the radio industry and has been CEO of Greater Media Inc. since 2002 and President of the company since 2000. He was recognized as America's Best Broadcaster in 2005 by Radio Ink magazine, serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and is a member of the HD Digital Radio Alliance Oversight Committee.
Haley says Smyth and his team at Greater Media are 'at the forefront of developmental changes in technology like HD Digital Radio', and that 'his leadership and vision will help RAB remain ahead of these advancements and ensure that we develop initiatives and platforms that propel our medium upward.'
The Board also elected Weezie Kramer, Regional Vice President, Entercom, as Vice Chairman of the Board, and Scott Herman, Executive Vice President, CBS Radio, as Chairman of the Finance Committee. Haley thanked current Chairman, Joe Bilotta, President and COO of Buckley Broadcasting, who will continue in the role through the end of the year, calling him 'a great shepherd of RAB and me during this transition year.'
