TNS Adds Retail Forward to New Shopping Division
TNS has announced the purchase of US MR consultancy Retail Forward, boosting the research giant's newly established Retail and Shopper Insights division.
The division was formed when TNS bought in-store researcher Sorensen Associates in February (www.mrweb.com/drno/frmemail/article6465.htm ).
Retail Forward specialises in providing in-depth intelligence and shopper insights to retailers and consumer goods companies, and also monitors market trends through its syndicated research programme, known as the Retail Forward Intelligence System™.
Based in Ohio, the firm posted revenue of $8.4 million in the year ended Dec 31, 2006, with gross assets of $2.8 million on that date. Its President and CEO is Tom Rubel.
TNS Chief Executive David Lowden comments: 'This is the second acquisition we have undertaken recently to build up our new global practice. As a retail strategist that is consulted by retail industry leaders worldwide, Retail Forward extends our key capabilities in shopper research that include the in-store market information expertise of Sorensen Associates, the purchasing behaviour insights of our Worldpanel service, and the experience in understanding brands and consumer motivation offered by our custom research operations. TNS is now even better equipped to offer insights and strategies to influence the full spectrum of the shopper journey.'
The companies are online at www.retailforward.com and www.tns-global.com .
