South African Charity Buys into MR Firm
South African firm WDB Investment Holdings, the finance arm of the WDB Charitable Trust, has acquired a 25.1% stake in MR intelligence firm Kaufman Levin Associates (KLA).
CEO of the social development trust, Tania Slabbert explained that the investment in KLA provides WDB with a trusted research partner.
Founded by Joel Kaufman and Robyn Levin in 1991, today two-thirds of KLA revenues are derived from quantitative research, specifically in the fields of B2B, government and stakeholder, employee and consumer research.
KLA CEO Joel Kaufman commented: 'The deal places KLA in a position to further improve the value we can provide to our clients and staff, particularly in view of WDB's strategic and operational depth and networks.'
As well as conducting ad hoc research, KLA has also developed a number of proprietary models and analytical frameworks including BRAND GENETICS™, NEW PRODUCT GENETICS™, COMMUNICATION GENETICS, and BRAND RELATIONSHIP MODEL™. The WDB Charitable Trust raises funds to provide micro loans for poor rural women. The firms are online at www.wdb.co.za and www.kla.co.za .
