New Marketing Head for AOL
AOL has appointed a new CMO (Chief Marketing Officer). John Burbank, who will report to Chairman and CEO Randy Falco, joins from AT&T, where he served as Vice President of Marketing.
Burbank will have overall responsibility for forming and executing AOL's brand marketing strategies and programs. He worked earlier in his career as Director of Brand Management at NewPower Company, and as a Brand Manager at Procter & Gamble. He joined AT&T Wireless in 2002 as VP Marketing, then held the same role at Cingular Wireless and then AT&T, developing the 'Signal Bars' campaign and managing mobile programs companies like MySpace, Facebook and YouTube. He also built new teams for Hispanic Marketing, Youth Marketing, Market Research and Media Innovation.
Says Falco: 'John is a superb executive, [who] will help consumers better understand the unique products and programs we offer, and he will help ensure that AOL addresses the needs of our consumers and our advertising partners.' Burbank says AOL has 'tremendous momentum behind its new Web strategy, making this the perfect time to join'.
