IFF Managing Director in 'Surprise' Resignation
MD Tim Britton is to leave London-based b2b and public policy research experts IFF, in November, and says he is 'considering options' for his next move in the industry. Two current Directors, Jan Shury and Mark Speed, will become Joint MDs.
Britton told DRNO that in a sense his resignation had surprised him as much as it had his colleagues, and that it had resulted from a growing feeling of being 'slightly at odds' with the direction the company was taking. He stressed that these were 'small differences' of opinion and added: 'I believe that IFF is a fantastic company and I have very much enjoyed my time here. The decision to leave was a very difficult one to reach. I've put my heart and soul into the business, but now it's time to move on.'
Britton first joined IFF in 1993 after gaining a BA Hons in Philosphy from Girton College, Cambridge. He left in 1997 to work for an affinity marketing firm in the financial services sector, before returning to IFF as a Board Director in 2000. In April 2005 he was promoted to the post of Managing Director (www.mrweb.com/drno/news3695.htm ) on the departure of thirteen-year incumbent David Spilsbury.
Britton says he does not yet have his next position lined up, but fully intends to remain in the industry: 'I'm currently considering my options'. IFF's directors have issued a statement thanking him for his part in the company's success during the past seven years.
Founded in 1965 as Industrial Facts and Forecasting by Andrew McIntosh, now Lord McIntosh of Haringey and a past Chairman of the MRS, IFF employs 50 full-time and around 115 temporary staff at its CATI phone centre. The company is online at www.iffresearch.com.
