Bravo/Oxygen Name Joint TV Research Head

NBC Universal's Bravo Media and Oxygen Media units have consolidated their TV research and promoted Bravo VP Program Research Tony Cardinale to lead it.

Cardinale joined Bravo three years ago to manage the network's original programme testing and developmental research (www.mrweb.com/drno/news3930.htm ). Prior to this, he worked as SVP Director of Strategic Research at ZenithOptimedia, and as a Director and Manager of Program Research at MSNBC and CNBC. He has a BA in American History with a minor in film from the State University of New York at Albany and an MA in Radio, Television and Film from Northwestern University.

In addition to his role overseeing Bravo Media's research team, Cardinale will expand his responsibilities to include management of both Bravo and Oxygen's programme, ad sales, new media and primary research - including programme testing, consumer surveys, consumer segmentation, ad performance research and focus groups.

Based in Manhattan, working from both Bravo Media's headquarters and Oxygen's offices, Cardinale now reports to Lauren Zalaznick, President of Bravo Media and Oxygen Media, and Sari DeCesare, SVP TV Network and Cable Audience Research, NBC Universal.

'Tony's deep knowledge of our consumers and our industry has helped define the Bravo brand, positioning us in a unique and enviable place in the sales, on-air and digital marketplace,' commented Zalaznick. 'I am certain that his expertise and drive toward innovation will prove to be invaluable in shaping Oxygen as well.'

Two Oxygen research executives, Christina Pisano and Sarah Barasch, will also expand their responsibilities in the reorganised group. Pisano will take on the role of VP of Bravo/Oxygen Research, directing primary and ratings research for both networks, while Barasch becomes VP of Ad Sales Research for Bravo/Oxygen. Both will report to Cardinale.
