Canadian Research Acquisition

Quebec-based Geocom, which includes Geocom Recherche Inc. and Geocom Sondages Inc., has agreed to the purchase of its key business assets by Altus Group Income Fund.

Geocom provides retail research and market analysis, including competitive environment, customer behaviour and satisfaction, and the determination of optimal locations and market potential. It employs 27 staff including five partners.

Altus CEO Gary Yeoman says the buy will allow his company to expand its client base in the province of Quebec, and to offer new services to existing clients.

Altus is a multidisciplinary provider of independent real estate consulting and professional advisory services worldwide, with a staff of over 1,100. Its Canadian national network includes 30 offices in 23 cities, and it also has 6 UK offices. Operating units are Altus Research, Valuation and Advisory; Altus Cost Consulting; Altus Realty Tax Consulting; Altus Geomatics; and Altus Edwin Hill Altus UK LLP.

The sale, for a combination of cash, bank financing and limited partnership units, is as yet subject to the usual considerations including satisfactory due diligence.
