NBCU Aligns Marketing and Research Under Pilot
US media giant NBC Universal has announced expanded roles for several of its key executives including Mike Pilot, President, Sales & Marketing, who will add executive responsibility for the company's Research department, including all audience, program and marketing research.
President of Research Alan Wurtzel will report to Pilot, who in turn reports to President and CEO Jeff Zucker.
The realignment follows the departure of Beth Comstock, President, Integrated Media, who leaves her role supervising the divisions in question for a new post at majority owner General Electric - she becomes Senior Vice President and CMO. Zucker comments: 'I want to thank Beth for her enormous contributions to the company over the last two-plus years.'
The company will also launch a virtual women's network including Bravo Media, Oxygen Media and iVillage, to be overseen by Jeff Gaspin, President and COO of the Universal Television Group, who also takes on interim responsibility for iVillage.
Salil Mehta, President, Business Operations, Strategy and Development, moves to oversee the company's NBCUs Digital Media team, with Chief Digital Officer George Kliavkoff reporting to Mehta.
NBC Universal was formed in May 2004 through the combination of NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment, and owns and operates news and entertainment networks, TV stations, theme parks and the film company. It is 80% owned by General Electric and 20% owned by Vivendi, and is online at www.nbcuni.com.
