Macro International to Hire 190 for New US Call Center

In the US, government research specialist Macro International is to open a call center in Springfield, Illinois on 1 April, and plans to hire more than 190 new staff to fill telephone interviewing, supervisory and quality assurance roles.

The office will occupy 10,000 square feet and will become Macro's 11th domestic operation. Mike McCarns, Macro International VP explained that the firm had conducted a national search for an office site and narrowed the list to five areas. 'Springfield had the best potential workforce pool because we found the level of education was significantly higher,' McCarns said. 'We saw 216 people and approved 195 for hire.'

Macro International conducts global research and evaluation projects to support federal, state, and international programmes relating to health, housing, education, science, energy, and nutrition. Originally known as Macro Systems, it was founded in 1966 in Silver Spring, Maryland. In 1999, the firm was acquired by New Jersey-based Opinion Research Corporation, which was in turn acquired by database provider infoUSA in 2006 (www.mrweb.com/drno/news6264.htm ).
