Omniture / Baidu Alliance to Tap Chinese Consumers
US web analytics firm Omniture has partnered with Chinese language Internet search firm Baidu to provide online marketers around the world with access to Chinese consumers.
'We believe China is an enormous untapped market opportunity for many companies,' said Josh James, CEO and Co-founder, Omniture. 'Our partnership with Baidu.com strengthens our business in China and allows our customers to more effectively add China to the growing list of world economies supported by Omniture solutions.'
According to Chinese Internet MR agency iResearch, Baidu.com's share of web search traffic in the third quarter of 2007 was 73.6% in China, while its market share for China's search engine marketing spend was 60.8%.
Haoyu Shen, Baidu.com's VP of Business Operations said that the partnership will enable the firm's advertisers to increase the performance of their online campaigns. 'By integrating our search metrics with Omniture, we believe online marketers will not only be able to measure campaigns but also improve conversion by making the end-to-end search experience more relevant.'
In October, Omniture agreed to buy web analytics firm Visual Sciences - formerly WebSideStory - in a deal worth around $394m (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7506.htm ).
