Decision Resources Buys Formulary Data Specialist
US-based healthcare specialist Decision Resources, Inc. has boosted its managed care franchise with the acquisition of Fingertip Formulary, which provides access to and insight into formulary data in the United States.
Fingertip Formulary maintains a detailed database of US formulary information, covering virtually all commercial, Medicare, Medicaid and PBM plans, and claims to give pharmaceutical brand managers a 'bridge' to connect health plans with formulary status, prescription drug utilization and prescribing trends.
The acquisition is part of an aggressive growth strategy by Decision Resources, Inc., whose current business units include managed care industry source HealthLeaders-InterStudy, medical device researchers Millennium Research Group, biopharm-focused Decision Resources, and Arlington Medical Resources (AMR) which covers the hospital-based drug and imaging industry.
Decision Resources' Chief Strategy Officer Shahir Kassam-Adams says the buy adds 'an important component' to the firm's services and will 'make it possible for us to continue building out a fully integrated pharmaceutical market-access solution'. He explains: 'Pharmaceutical brand managers must devote significant time to the managed care environment as reimbursement dictates a large part of their drug's success'.
