IDC Financial Head Leaves to Start Own Firm
In the US Julio Gomez, former Global Head of Research at IDC-owned Financial Insights, has left the company to set up his own consultancy, focusing on providing intelligence in the capital markets.
Gomez told DRNO that the new firm, Gomez Markets, will provide services targeted towards business executives at financial institutions and strategy executives at financial technology companies. Core products will be based on proprietary methodologies for competitive analysis and benchmarking, as well as product development and market penetration. 'All of these services are built on a fact-based analytic framework,' he added. The firm will operate from offices near Boston.
In his role at Financial Insights, Gomez was responsible for all aspects of market research and consulting across geographies and segments. Prior to joining the firm last year, he founded Gomez Inc, a performance measurement service that monitored and ranked the quality and reliability of online banking and brokerage sites. Before entering the research sector, he held trading, sales, and corporate finance positions with HSBC, Security Pacific, and Bank of Boston. He also founded and ran his own brokerage firm specializing in state and local bond issues. Gomez is a graduate of Princeton University.
Gomez's former colleague Jeanne Capachin, VP of Research for Banking and Insurance, has taken over formal responsibility for his previous role until a replacement can be found.
