BBC Marketing Leader Becomes Radio Boss
The BBC has announced the promotion of the head of its marketing division, Tim Davie, to the role of Director of Audio and Music, overseeing Radios 1 to 5 and the four digital-only networks, plus the Proms, radio drama and TV music entertainment.
Davie, who starts the new role in September, joined the BBC in April 2005 from PepsiCo where he was European VP of Marketing and Franchise. Currently the BBC's Director of Marketing, Communications and Audiences, he will replace Jenny Abramsky who is leaving to head to the Heritage Lottery Fund after 39 years at the Corporation.
Director-General Mark Thompson said the move would ensure the BBC remained 'creatively strong and vibrant in the years to come', adding: 'His insight into audiences and their expectations of the BBC will be particularly valuable.'
