LinkedIn to Provide B2B Sample
Business networking site LinkedIn has launched a service to help market researchers and professional investors conduct research among its database of more than 30 million members.
LinkedIn says approximately half this worldwide total are IT and business decision-makers.
LinkedIn Surveys, a new offering from the LinkedIn Research Network, has already been used by six market research firms including consumer specialist OTX, to conduct B2B primary research among LinkedIn members.
Professionals who participate in surveys are offered rewards such as gift cards or donations to a charity of their choice.
'More than ever before, sample quality and reliability are of top concern to market research companies,' said Scott Spry, COO, Phoenix Marketing International, a client of the new service. 'LinkedIn Surveys has allowed us to quickly and cost-effectively obtain feedback from real professionals who provide authentic perspectives.'
The existing LinkedIn Research Network allows clients to search on any combination of qualifications, company, industry, title, expertise and keywords, to profile industry experts who meet specific criteria.
'LinkedIn overcomes quality and authenticity issues that other sample providers face,' said Dan Shapero, Director of Business Services, LinkedIn. 'Because of the public and self-policing nature of LinkedIn, members provide deep and accurate profile information and they update that information constantly.'
LinkedIn, which was launched in California in 2003, now has additional offices in Omaha, Chicago, New York, and London. Earlier in the year, the firm launched LinkedIn Polls to enables organizations to run business and market research surveys across the site's network.
