UK Firm Offers Go-Anywhere Hall Tests
London based acefieldwork has launched 'FlexiHalls', a system using a wireless hub to provide web surveys from 'almost any UK location'.
The firm says hall tests now need to provide fast and reliable web-based data collection. This is a challenge for field-based researchers, due to a lack of suitable venues with high speed Internet connections across the UK and the unsuitability and expense of Internet cafes and other WiFi-enabled venues, which are hard to find outside major urban areas.
FlexiHalls creates a mobile hub which connects up to 10 laptops to the Internet using a 2Mb wireless connection, and can be used wherever there is a 3G network. The company says the technology 'will help alleviate issues of nationally representative sampling, particularly in rural areas'.
The technology was developed in response to a specific project need for a new client, involving ad-testing research among 600 respondents in 9 locations including rural spots across the UK. acefieldwork says the new system provides huge benefits in terms of savings over traditional methods requiring data processing, and the speed of downloading raw data back to a central server.
Business Development Director Shirley Featherstone says the technology is 'incredibly simple to use, but extremely effective at the same time'.
acefieldwork is part of Munro Global, formed in June 2006 and with 2008 turnover projected to exceed £10m. Web sites: www.acefieldwork.co.uk and www.munroglobal.net .
