Carat Hires Hess for Research Chief Role
Mike Hess, the former Director of Global Research and Consumer Insights at ad agency OMD, is to join Aegis-owned media agency Carat as EVP-Research, Marketing Science and Consumer Insight.
News that Hess had left his post at OMD broke two days ago, when parent-firm Omnicom Media Group announced it had restructured its global research and analytics division.
Prior to joining OMD, Hess held senior research positions with TNS-NFO, Promotion Decisions/Knowledge Networks, ACNielsen/BASES, and IRI, as well as clientside at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Clorox.
His takes up his new role as 'research czar' next Monday - a role previously held by Joanne Burke who left the firm more than four years ago.
President Martin Cass confirmed that Carat had been speaking with Hess about the position for some time, and described his appointment as 'something of a coup'.
Founded in 1968 as the first ever independent media communications agency, Carat is now present in 70 countries and employs around 4,800 staff.
