New Arbitron Roles to Support Culture Change

US radio ratings giant Arbitron is recruiting for three new senior executive positions, as part of a shake-up designed to facilitate effective decision-making.

The new postholders will report to the firm's recently appointed President and CEO Michael Skarzynski, who had already hinted about forthcoming organizational change at Arbitron, and about changing the culture of the company with a 'fresh start' to improve customer satisfaction.

On Wednesday, Arbitron announced that it had eliminated Owen Charlebois' role as President, Technology, Research and Development, and moved Pierre Bouvard to the new position of Executive Vice President, Sales.

In addition, the company is now actively recruiting for three senior positions:
  • EVP, Customer Solutions - responsible for survey research methods and product management as well as for developing improvements to existing services
  • EVP, Strategy and Business Development - responsible for originating, executing and integrating business partnerships, acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing arrangements and strategic investments
  • EVP, Chief Marketing Officer - responsible for marketing, communications and brand.
Earlier this month, the firm reported a 9% drop in net income from $3.7m in Q4 2007 to $3.4 in the fourth quarter of 2008, despite revenue increasing 16.8% to $93.6m.

Another of Skarzynski's goals is to win back business in the markets where Nielsen is rolling out its radio sticker diary, and to examine potential opportunities in multi-media, measuring not only radio, but the three screens: TV, computer and portable video devices.
