Harris May Cut Up To 30 UK Jobs
Harris Interactive has announced that up to 30 UK jobs could go, as part of its plans to streamline the business. Meanwhile, continuing its US restructure, the firm has appointed former TNS Chief Information Officer Enzo Micali as Global EVP of Technology and Operations.
 The US restructure has resulted in a further 90 positions being axed recently, in addition to the 81 redundancies made in October and December last year.
'Our decision follows careful discussions with leaders from across our business' says Jinty Weldon, Interim UK and European Managing Director, 'as we look to re-align our product and service offering, control costs, and respond to the harsh reality of the global market place'. 'With Research budgets being tightened across the industry, being proactive now ensures we can remain competitive and deliver the best possible value to our clients.'
Over in the US, Micali's initial focus will be on streamlining and automating end-to-end workflows, collaborating with the Harris Center for Innovation on using technology to reach hard-to-find respondents, and building a 'seamless global platform' to propel and build out the infrastructure of the company.
In this role, he reports to his former boss, Kimberly Till, who became Harris Interactive President & CEO last October. 'Enzo's breadth and depth of industry expertise and experience will be a key asset to us as we leverage technology, to streamline and improve our operations and create new revenue streams through product innovation and advanced methodologies,' stated Till.
In February, Harris Interactive announced a steep decline in revenue for the second quarter of its fiscal 2009, to $50.7m from $62.7m a year previously.
