Debut for Online Research Firm
Former Ipsos and NPD executives Jean Davis and Tessie Ting have started Conversition Strategies, a new research firm focused on social media and with bases in the US and Canada. The company's first key offering is brand rating web site MatterMeter, due for launch this weekend.
The founders, who boast a combined 50 years of research experience, say Conversition Strategies will apply scientific principles to the collection and analysis of social media data, and is positioned to complement traditional research methodologies.
MatterMeter promises clients 'a single location from which to rate any product, service, or person' in order to evaluate consumer satisfaction with their own brands and competitive brands over time. The service is the forerunner of the firm's 'main science engine', EvoListen, currently under development and due for launch in the late summer.
The weekend's launch is in the form of a 'Tweet-up', an in-person meeting in Long Island, New York, of followers MatterMeter has picked up through a presence on Twitter over the last two months.
Says Ting: 'Market Research has focused on several highly effective techniques for many years. Now that consumers are behaving in new ways, it is time to develop a new technique to capture those behaviors. MatterMeter is uniquely poised to listen to consumers.' Davis says early testing has shown that people find the site 'fun and easy to use'.
