Tesco-owned customer data science company dunnhumby has appointed Flávia Villani as Head of its Brazil operations.Founded in 1989 by husband and wife team Edwina Dunn and Clive Humby (who were recently awarded OBEs for their services to data and business in the UK), dunnhumby is best known as the data firm behind the Tesco Clubcard loyalty scheme. Tesco bought a 53% stake in the firm in 2001 for £30m, and later purchased the remaining shares.
Villani (pictured) joins after co-founding Yandeh, which used big data, analytics and transactional platforms to help improve the efficiency of the chain of consumption. Prior to this, she spent seven years at Unilever, latterly serving as Latin America Supply Chain Director for the Food Solutions business. She began her career at supermarket chain Pão de Açúcar, working in marketing and category management roles.
Simon Jury, dunnhumby's Head of LatAm, says Villani's experience in retail and consumer goods will 'greatly contribute' to the company in Brazil.
