US-based web analytics firm Omniture has measured what it says is the first retail transaction ever to take place in Facebook, on behalf of a florist and gift retailer advertising on the social networking site.
The firm used its recently launched App Measurement for Facebook solution, designed to enable marketers to tap into its SiteCatalyst analytics, segmentation and reporting capabilities built on the Facebook platform.
Through the solution, the transactions that occurred on the site were measured alongside all other online marketing data in a single dashboard.
'Being first to measure social shopping on Facebook shows how quickly our customers and partners can adapt Omniture's technology to meet the preferences of their online audiences using the most current ecommerce technologies,' stated CTO and EVO of Products, Brett Error.
Graphic design and display software giant Adobe recently announced plans to acquire Omniture for around $1.8 billion.
