Adams and Henrick Depart in Arbitron Restructure

June 24 2010

US ratings giant Arbitron has given five members of its executive leadership additional responsibilities as part of a client-focused re-shuffle, which sees the departure of EVP, CMO Alton Adams and EVP, Customer Solutions Robert Henrick.

William KerrAdams and Henrick joined Arbitron in March 2009 as part of a previous shake-up, designed to change the culture of the company with a 'fresh start' to improve customer satisfaction.

Henrick was previously responsible for Arbitron's survey research methods and product management, and while the firm initiates a search for a Chief Research Officer, Tim Smith will oversee the research department on an interim basis.

The company says the aim of its latest reorganization is to build stronger partnerships with clients, and enable it to focus on the value and quality of its services.

Smith takes on the expanded role of EVP of Business Development and Strategy, to focus on directing Arbitron's domestic and international strategy and identifying partnerships and business relationships - while continuing to manage legal and regulatory matters.

Sean Cramer is promoted to the newly created post of EVP of US Media Services, responsible for the firm's radio and cross-platform services and operations, while continuing to lead the finance division until the firm recruits a new CFO.

Scott Henry is named EVP, Technology Solutions. This post integrates his current IT responsibilities with oversight of the company's engineering and service supply chain groups, to streamline the evolution of the Portable People Meter (PPM) technology from hardware design to software development.

Carol Hanley becomes EVP of Sales and Marketing, adding sales to her current marketing responsibilities.

Lastly, Marilou Legge has been promoted to the new position of EVP for Organization Effectiveness and Corporate Communications, with responsibility for the company's talent and communications strategies.

All five report to President and CEO William Kerr, who explains the motivation behind the reorganization: 'Over the past several months I have met with many of our customers and other key stakeholders, and found their feedback invaluable. I have incorporated it into this realignment, and believe this new structure can help support the growth of both the radio industry and the company.'

Kerr thanked Adams and Henrick 'for their contributions and commitment' to Arbitron.
