GfK Retail & Technology has launched the 'Network Intelligence Solution' (NIS), a new tool using data from operators' IP traffic to produce insights into daily mobile Internet usage.
NIS measures user behavior on all web sites visited using any mobile Internet device. For instance, mobile phones, Smartphones, PC tablets and 3G Cards can all be monitored using the tool.
The tool has already provided detailed insights on the mobile activity of more than 200,000 mobile Internet consumers in three European countries. Feedback shows that the average Smartphone user makes up to 24 web site visits per day, and a vast majority of these are to traditional web sites and not just mobile specific sites.
'NIS allows us to provide both operators and the media industry with relevant and reliable information, enabling them to fully monetize mobile traffic for the first time,' states Fredrik Hallberg (pictured), Managing Director of GfK NIS.
The service will be rolled out globally during 2011.
