Former Major Players insight team leader Joel Naftal is helping to build a new London-based staff recruitment consultancy, Trace, whose specialist areas including marketing, branding and insight.
Started at the beginning of this year, Trace Recruitment already has a growing accountancy & finance team. To build up the second wing of the company, Naftal is working with Gareth Carpenter, formerly of Martin Ward Anderson, a sister company of Major Players within the Randstad Group. The venture is backed by Melvin Jay and Alistair Moore, who set up branding & innovation consultancy Clear Ideas.
Naftal spent 4 years at Major Players, developing the Research, Insight and Analysis Division, after spells at research recruiter RP Cushing and another company in Australia. His own particular focus is on research, insight and what he classes as the 'grey area' - the space between research, strategy/planning and innovation.
Trace will place emphasis on finding candidates who are the right cultural 'fit' for an employer, having identified this during their own start-up market research, as a key unsatisfied requirement within the recruitment sector. Working in strategic partnership with a business specialist in the field of 'person organisation fit', the new business is building a bespoke assessment tool which it says will add 'some much needed science and rigour to the recruitment process'.
Naftal told DRNO Trace's Marketing, Branding & Insight Division would cover a broad range of marketing roles, but that insight and MR would obviously form an important component of this given his own background and network of contacts. 'We are looking to innovate the traditional recruitment model, with a focus on improving person organisational fit to alleviate the frustrations that both candidates & companies face when a placement doesn't work out. We are hoping with our new tool we can help those we work with to avoid the high costs and personal angst of making the wrong recruitment choice.'
