US Election Chat and Poll Site Launches

April 20 2012

In the US, local forum site Topix has launched a new mobile and online platform called Politix, through which Americans can follow news about the 2012 election, share their opinions with their social networks and fellow voters, and track opinion across the country.

US election opinion map: who thinks what, where?Topix claims to be the largest local forum site in the US, aggregating news and hosting conversations for more than 20,000 cities and towns, and over 10 million people a month via the web and 3 million people via their mobile devices.

The new site features curated news embedded with a call to action or question within each story. The resulting comments are then integrated into the site, enabling users to see where different people in different parts of the country stand on the issues. Similarly, a daily 'Issues Map' poll allows visitors to vote on political issues, make or endorse a statement, and compare their opinion with others around the USA.

CEO Chris Tolles comments: 'Citizens in small towns nationwide are hungry for both straightforward political news and an opportunity to express their thoughts on this news. By giving Americans a meaningful platform to convey their opinions around key issues, we hope to have a significant impact on the tone of, and process for, political conversations in this country.'
