Arbitron Hires Media Industry Exec for CFO Role

US ratings giant Arbitron has appointed former National Public Radio Inc. finance leader Debra Delman as its new Chief Financial Officer, following the departure of Richard Surratt who left in May for 'personal reasons'.

Debra DelmanSurratt joined the company in February 2011, succeeding COO Sean Creamerwho had been promoted to EVP, US Media Services the previous June but has also been serving as interim CFO since Surratt's departure.

Delman (pictured) starts in her new post at the end of August. Since 2009, she has been SVP, Strategic Operations and Finance for National Public Radio Inc., where she was recently appointed Chief Strategy Officer. She was previously SVP and CFO for Discovery Networks International, and Corporate VP, Finance at Hearst-Argyle Television. Before this, Delman served as SVP, CFO for Emmis International and she held the same title at Manager Media International. Earlier in her career, she was an Investment Analyst at Daiwa Securities of America and worked at Chemical Bank and WR Grace and Co.

In her new role, she reports to President and CEO Bill Kerr, who comments: 'Debra is a talented and capable senior financial executive with extensive experience in the radio, media and entertainment industries. She understands our business and our customers well, and will be a valuable addition to the Arbitron executive staff.'
