Finnish shopper and visitor analytics specialist RapidBlue Solutions has launched a new product which converts existing location data collected and owned by cell phone networks, WiFi-operators and others into metrics on consumer movements and actions.
RapidBlue uses sensors placed in relevant retail locations to collect real-time shopper movement data from consumers' mobile devices. This data generates metrics and analytics to uncover how long consumers spend in a particular environment, how often they visit a location, and what time of day has the greatest potential for products.
The firm says its new 'Analytics for Location Data Owners' solution has been developed for those cell network operators and WiFi network providers who are considering creating revenue streams from location data they already own, and who want to investigate the commercial value of this data.
COO Sampo Parkkinen explains: 'We're seeing that parties who own existing location data have an increased need to make sense of it. So, we've built an automated solution that enables us to produce meaningful metrics on any existing location data set. Effectively this new product moves us into the big data world, as daily volumes of processed data are likely to be counted in terabytes from now on.'
