Business information and events group Informa has expanded and restructured its Business Intelligence division, as it combines with the brands and businesses acquired from New York-based Penton Information Services last November.
In addition to trade publishing and events, Penton develops data solutions such as the NEXT Trend product, offering trend data, predictive consumer segmentation, and a concept testing lab for CPG companies; and SmartReach Audience Extension, which uses the company's proprietary database of twenty million business decision-maker profiles.
Following the Penton acquisition, Informa's Business Intelligence division is now comprised of six industry-focused vertical businesses, with supporting capabilities including marketing services and consulting. For example, the new Industry and Infrastructure Intelligence vertical draws on Penton's expertise across the public infrastructure, design and manufacturing, tech, energy and buildings, and asset intelligence markets; a new Transportation Intelligence vertical combines the division's Maritime Intelligence business with Penton's Aviation and Ground Transportation brands; and the Agribusiness Intelligence and Financial Intelligence verticals now include Penton brands including the Food & Restaurant Market and WealthMangement.com. The Penton deal has also added marketing services capabilities, and there is a new approach and growth plans for consulting, using insight and industry knowledge within each vertical, to provide new types of intelligence.
Patrick Martell (pictured), CEO of Business intelligence, comments: 'This is an exciting time for our teams and customers. Onboarding Penton has expanded and complemented Informa's existing Business Intelligence offering. We now address new vertical industries, and have extended our reach, products and offerings throughout the division, giving customers deeper sources of specialist intelligence and opportunities to strengthen their businesses'.
