Nielsen Announces New UK MD

January 11 2008

Nielsen has promoted Justin Sargent from Executive Commercial Director to UK MD. He succeeds Eleni Nicholas, who has taken on the role of Commercial Development Officer, Nielsen Europe while retaining her Group MD role for Nielsen's UK and Irish business.

Justin Sargent and Eleni NicholasSargent began his career at Procter & Gamble as Category Marketing Analyst, before joining Nielsen in 1993. Since this time, he has held senior roles in both the UK and in Australia where he was responsible for consumer panel services, retailer services and client services, as well as for operational activities.

Commenting on his new remit, Sargent said: 'It is my goal to maximize the potential of the One Nielsen vision - to integrate our consumer, media and online research divisions - for all of our clients to enable them to make the most informed strategic marketing decisions.'

The One Vision philosophy has already been rolled out in the US in the form of cross-media collaborations with TV sports network ESPN (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7458.htm ) and Sony Pictures Television (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7774.htm ).

Born in London of Greek Cypriot parents, Nicholas gained her MSc in Political Philosophy at the London School of Economics, and then moved to Cyprus to work for research firm AMER, which later became part of the ACNielsen network. Since then, she has held senior roles with Nielsen in the Netherlands, Belgium and Russia, and became Group Managing Director for UK and Ireland in 2001.

Nielsen is on the web at www.nielsen.com.
