Arnie SchwartzConsumer and retail specialist The NPD Group has promoted Arnie Schwartz to the role of President of its US foodservice business unit, which provides insights used by manufacturers, operators and distributors of products in the restaurant and foodservice industry.

Formerly President of NPD’s North America food and beverage business unit, Schwartz will now manage a portfolio of information services designed to track and provide insight into consumers’ use of foodservice establishments and products.

He joined the firm in 1987, since when he has held a number of client service and management roles in both the food and beverage, and foodservice units. During this time, he has also managed the launch of a number of research services including SnackTrack, DeliTrack and Consumer Expectations Monitor.

‘Arnie brings to his new role strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of the food and foodservice industries, and an unwavering commitment to meeting client needs,’ says Randall Smith, Group President, US Food and Automotive, Canada and Latin America. ‘His wide-ranging experience will certainly be welcomed by our clients in the foodservice industry.’

In his new role, Schwartz will report directly to Smith and continue to be based at the firm’s Rosemont, Illinois office.

Headquartered in the US in Port Washington, NY, the NPD Group recently rolled out its Consumer Reports on Eating Share Trends service (CREST) in the People’s Republic of China, to track and offer insight on consumer purchases of commercially prepared meals and snacks in the region.
