Mike LintonIn the US, marketing sciences firm MarketShare Partners (MSP) has appointed former eBay marketer Mike Linton to its Board of Advisors.

Founded in 2005, MSP has developed a suite of software solutions which combine advanced analytics and statistical modeling, to help companies improve the effectiveness of their sales and marketing strategies.

Its Board of Advisors comprises prominent marketing and media thought leaders, and as part of the Board, Linton will provide strategic counsel to the company’s leadership team.

Until March, Linton served as SVP and CMO of eBay, prior to which, he was EVP and CMO of Best Buy. Before this, he held various marketing and general management positions at Remington Products, James River, Progressive Insurance and Procter & Gamble.

Linton has won numerous awards over the course of his career including Marketer of the Year in 2004 from Promotion Magazine, and he was named one of industry’s most influential marketers by AdAge for three consecutive years in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

‘Mike has had the best opportunity to assess MSP – as a client of ours at eBay, and has seen first-hand the innovation we bring to marketers,’ said Jon Vein, co-founder and CEO. ‘His deep marketing expertise will be a tremendous asset to the company as we continue our expansion.’

In March, former Procter & Gamble marketing leader Jim Stengel also joined the firm’s Board of Advisors.
