Former MRA chief Larry Brownell is to take up the role of Executive Director of The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) – he starts on February 1st. Working from Los Angeles he will take responsibilitiy for areas including events and prefessional development for the non-profit educational organisation.
The AFCI’s members are film commissioners that assist film, television, and video production throughout the world.
As CEO of the MRA (Market Research Association), Brownell presided over a period of significant change and progress, growing the membership and merging with lobbying and legal body CMOR. Prior to the MRA he held management positions with the California-Nevada Section of American Water Works Association, the California Society of CPAs, and Ability First of Southern California. He received a bachelor’s degree in communications, film and television from Syracuse University and an MBA from California State University-Northridge.
AFCI President Mary Nelson says Brownell ‘possesses a unique combination of skills and expertise that are ideally suited to the AFCI and its mission.’
