Arbitron | February 10 2011 |
Radio Ratings giant Arbitron has appointed Richard J. Surratt as EVP, Finance, reporting directly to President and CEO William T. Kerr, and says it will transition him into the role of Chief Financial Officer as soon as practicable.
Surratt will then succeed Sean Creamer, who was promoted in June last year to Executive Vice President, U.S. Media Services, responsible for the Company's radio and cross-platform services and operations, but who has continued his CFO duties while a replacement was found.
Surratt was President and CEO at education software supplier Voyager Learning Company from 2007 to 2009, having joined it two years earlier as SVP and CFO. He led the sale of the company in December 2009 to Cambium Learning Group, Inc. For the six years before joining Voyager, he was EVP and CFO at Atlantic Coast Airlines Holdings, Inc., and before this he worked for Mobil Corporation from 1991 to 1999 in a number of senior finance roles. He holds an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business, Stanford, CA.
Kerr welcomes Surratt’s ‘solid track record managing complex businesses, executing mergers and acquisitions, negotiating financing agreements and overseeing international finance operations’ and concludes: ‘Richard is a respected finance executive who we believe can help our company grow as a leading provider of integrated measures of the media experience and its impact on consumer behaviour.’
